FAQ
-
Are Thimble & Fabric embroidery kits suitable for beginners?Yep! My kits are designed *specifically* for beginners. Even if you've never threaded a needle before, I got you! Detailed instructions and pre printed fabrics means anyone can enjoy the meditative properties of embroidery.
-
Ok, but which one is best for a real, total beginner?!Genuinely, all of them! But if you're looking for a quicker project, here's some suggestions...
-
How long do your kits take to make?A mini kit takes around 2 or 3 hours to stitch. A 6 inch hoop kit varies, but usually provides a few evenings worth of stitching time. The beauty of embroidery is that you can pick it up and put it down, so it's hard to say! My aim is always for the projects to be achievable rather than daunting. Not the kind of thing that'll take you a year to finish.
-
I'm not sure I can trace an embroidery pattern...Not a problem! All my kits come with fabric pre-printed (or with a printed water-soluble transfer you stick on to the fabric). No tracing required!
-
Can you help me with a specific stitch?Sure! Check out my 'Tutorials' highlight on my Instagram profile for all the video tutorials I've ever made. Or, drop me an email on thimbleandfabric@gmail.com - I'll send you something to help, or make a new tutorial if need be!
-
I really like your embroidery kit designs, but can I buy one ready stitched? My kits offer excellent value for money and that means hours of stitching time. For that reason, I don't offer ready stitched hoops using my kit designs. I often bring a small range of ready made items to markets and pop up shops with me, so keep an eye out for those!
-
Can I order a bespoke design?Maybe! At certain times of year I have limited availability to take on bespoke commissions - be that for a special DIY kit design, or for a completed stitched piece. If that sounds like something you're interested in, drop me an email on thimbleandfabric@gmail.com to check my availability. Then, be ready with some details of what you'd like and some reference images if relevant, so that I can quote you a price and a timeframe.
-
How much does a custom design cost?Prices vary considerably, from £25+ for a simple phrase/motif, to £60 - £80 upwards for a detailed image.
-
How do I order a custom design?Contact me with the details of what you've got in mind. We'll have a chat and I'll give a quote for the work, and a timeframe for when you can expect to receive your piece. If you decide to go ahead after receiving your quote (no pressure - if it’s not right for you, that’s ok!) I’ll start designing your piece straight away. You’ll then receive a digital copy of the design to approve. You‘re also able to make changes at this point, and if that has any cost implications, I’ll let you know. Once we've agreed on a final design, I'll send you an invoice for payment via BACs. When I've received payment, I’ll then make up your special kit or stitched piece, send you a photo of it completed, before posting the item to you or your recipient (whichever you prefer!)

Do you offer products on a wholesale basis?Yes! I offer a wholesale discount for orders of 25 or more units. This could be several different products or designs, so long as the total order is for at least 25 items. I keep this minimum low so as to remain accessible to small independent retailers. However, I also have the ability and experience to fulfil much larger orders should that suit your needs.
-
How can I place a wholesale order? Please email me (Jess) on thimbleandfabric@gmail.com for any questions about my wholesale offering. I'd love to chat and send you a copy of my current wholesale catalogue.
